Milngavie Library / Community Education Centre:
Built in 1980 and designed by Strathclyde Regional Council Department of Architecture. This building is seemingly unremarkable, with its 1970s design stylings and materials palette, the same materials and look can be seen on countless local authority buildings of this period across the UK. Where the Milngavie Community Education Centre stands apart is its stunning setting and the sympathetic way the building works with its immediate landscape and lakeside setting. The panorama above shows the entrance to the building and to the left the lake and fountain it is sited alongside.

the rear of the building backs into a wooded area. A large steel frame has been bolted to the structure, this is an addition to the building after construction and must be in response to structural problems with the rear walls.
